At Miller & Fisher, LLP, we work aggressively to make sure you receive the treatment, time with your children and financial support you deserve. We take a low-conflict approach to family law as a way to lower our clients' emotional and financial strain. This approach has met with a lot of success — see what our clients say about us.
How do I Know if I'm Eligible for a Child Support Modification?
For you to be eligible, there must have been a "significant change in circumstances." That can mean losing a job, getting a raise or even having a new medical condition. If your income or your ex-spouse's/child's other parent's income has changed significantly, then you need a child support modification to accommodate it.
We represent clients who are paying and receiving child support. We help them modify their legal arrangements to fairly reflect the reality of their situation.
What if My Ex-Spouse is Violating the Order?
You can bring them before a judge to enforce it. Common violations include failure to pay child support or "custodial interference" — where one parent won't give the other parent the visitation rights he or she deserves. Judges have come up with fairly creative solutions to get the other party to comply with the orders — sometimes they even result in jail time.
