Dear Joe Miller,
Joe, as I call you, I want to thank you for bringing my daughter back to me. I knew from the first day we spoke that you were different from the other attorneys I had contacted. You took initiative where others could care less that is until they could receive a retainer. At our initial meeting, you informed me that you knew personally several attorneys in Pocatello and if I retained one of them it would cost me less. But, I decided right then and there, I'd rather have someone that I knew was honest and was looking out for my best interest, even if it meant losing me as a client. Thus, you became my attorney!
You realized that my case was complicated, but had no doubt that I'd win in the end and to keep focused on that issue because you knew the law was on my side. You told me when and when not to be patient. When at one time you felt that Idaho code was being challenged some, you reminded with a firm resound voice to all, I was ready to go the distance. It was at that time the Lord and you helped the other party have a change of heart. Then the real conversation between both parties began, and the situation was resolved.
When I was more willing to give in to the demands of others, you followed my request though you didn't totally agree. You believed I knew the other party better than you. I knew not to back them into a corner and we didn't. Thus we have settled out of court. For which I will forever be grateful.
Through all, my parents were my biggest supporters in this ordeal. They were included in every thing except the initial negotiations to settle out of court. I knew out of principal, they would be greatly disturbed. I asked you to not answer any of their calls or emails until we had something positive to tell them. I appreciate that you did exactly that. And after hearing every thing that when on that week before court was scheduled, my parents thanked both myself and you for keeping them out of that particular loop.
And beyond your expertise as our attorney, there was the personal side. When I was afraid the first time the other party was ordered to let me see her right after court, you went with my dad and I to pick up my daughter. That gave us a real sense of security and let every one know the court was watching through your eyes.
We also know now that some attorneys have flat rates for many different things. I really appreciate that though you could have charged me full rates when traveling to the hearings, you only charged a percentage of your hourly rate. You were polite and didn't penalize me for my parents' talkative nature. I never had any surprises on my bill, as you estimated every thing before we went to a hearing. If you had charged flat fees we would have been defeated long before this victory. I thank you, my son and daughter thank you and my parents' thank you, though it doesn't seem enough.
Thank you again for bring my daughter home to me, and my entire family.
